what brings two persons together? is it love? or just a feeling of familiarity that bonds them to each other? or perhaps the need to have companionship? it could even be the unwillingness to admit that you have possibly failed in maintaining the r/ship.
i'd like to think that it's because you love each other so much, that living a life without that other person pains you so much you feel lost. at least i sure as hell hope that my r/ship will eventually grow into something like that.
i'd like to think that there is trust between a couple. that you can trust that he/she won't do something silly or wrong when you are not with them. and that you can trust that whatever he/she is not telling, it is not because it isn't important. but because is simply nothing of consequence.
(sidenote: i don't think it's necessary to tell your partner EVERYTHING. as long as you tell him/her the things that are important and have the potential to alter your r/ship. of course, if your other half asks about it, then you should tell her/him as is what it it. )
often times, r/ships don't work out the way that we want, or we have to fight tooth and nail to get the r/ship to a level where both parties are content and happy with each other. but what happens when you have fought so hard and so long, and yet, the r/ship still breaks down? do you continue fighting a winless battle or do you admit defeat and give up? and by that, does admitting defeat or giving up, means you lose? means that you are a failure? or that you are a coward?
doesn't the tears and effort in fighting the battle render you victorious in spite of a defeat? at least no one can say you didn't try.
i've never been one to support a couple getting back together after a break up (or many). this is because, there is a reason (or many) that have led to the breakup in the first place. it doesn't mean that when you break up and start afresh, the problems that have exsisted will magically disappear.
however, with that said, i've known a few couples who have broken up and gotten back together, and are happy together. but that to me, it is like a needle in a haystack. possibly 0.02% in a hundred.
and when you eventually get back together, you'd be wondering what happened during your time apart. what happens when you know that something has happened, and yet your other half omits certain details? can you find it in you to trust him/her? is that foundation of trust still there?!
to you: i know that it's hard just to let go of feelings that have built up over the years, all the ups and downs which you have experienced together. but you gotta take a step back and evaluate the situation and then decide for yourself if it is indeed worth your heart and love and (potentially) tears and laughter, to plunge into it again.
the doubt which you may have, will cloud your judgement and you have to ask yourself if you can see past the clouds and spot the sunshine hiding in them. are you willing to forgive and forget or will it always be a barrier/black spot in your r/ship.
and whatever you decide, i will support you. and anytime when you need someone to listen to your frustrations, i'll be here.... :) i wish you all the best, babe.
